Due to increasing air pollution in Concord by the high traffic the Bureau - together with the public - started the development of green zones.
As more and more building appeared they displaced the vegetation from Concord. We lived between asphalt, brick and concrete, and inhaled air with more dust and air pollutants, but now it seems that this change. A regulation have been issued, under which green areas should be developed.
The changes started with the Philip Linden Memorial Park next to the police building. Trees, grass, and a fountain makes the square nice and green. People like this park, often see them sitting on benches of the park. That is very different feeling when we hear birds singing in the morning.
But the changes aren't finished with developing the Philip Linden park. Citizens of Concord joined enthusiastically to the project and placed as many trees, bushes and other plants on the streets as it can. Concord City began to be green. We placed some plants too in front of the CCN building. Trees appeared on more streets, small green areas, parks were born throughout the city.
And now we have a park in the western part of the city too. This park have trees, benches and a fountain - but smaller than the Philip Linden park. Sorrunded the park appeared new flats for rent. We think they will be occupied very soon because the downtown is very close.
The trees and green zones measurably reduced the air pollution of Concord, our city is much healthier now. Join to the Green Project and change the concrete-jungle to green-jungle!
And finally a personal observation of CCN staff: We never seen or met with road cleaner or sweeper truck on the streets of Concord. This shortcoming should be remedied by the Mayor's Office to keep our streets clean and dust free.
